WHY did the
Squirrel Tracks disappear?

WHY
are your not getting the Squirrel Tracks newsletter in the
mail anymore?
And
WHY
can't you find
it
on the website either?
That's
because we are currently working on including the
Squirrel Tracks on the website and/or via email (except to
members who do not have access to the internet or email, who
will still get our news thru the mail).
When we did
send out the Squirrel Tracks, we mailed about 250 copies
6 times a year. So by reducing the mailings we are saving
paper and thereby trees. We were, of course, using recycled
paper, but even recycled paper comes originally from trees
and paper recycling uses some energy, although 40% less than the
manufacturing of new paper.
We will be
sending out a mailing shortly to find out how many of our
readers would like to receive Squirrel Tracks by mail and
who would prefer to read it online. There is an another
advantage to this in addition to saving paper - an online
newsletter is not as prone to being misplaced as a paper
one.
Another
reason why you haven't seen the Squirrel Tracks lately is
the lack of time and volunteers: the Mountains Group is a
very small number
of people making
big
efforts to protect and preserve our mountain environment and
communities.
So we
have to make choices about where to concentrate our efforts.
