Group Update:

Our next two meetings will also feature the importance of water:

Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 7pm in the Sterling Inn off Ridgecrest Rd, Neville Slade will present a program entitled “Water, the Miracle Molecule and Why do we care?”. Neville is the chair of the Agriculture & Natural Resources Department of Victor Valley College. Neville has worked hard over several years to bring to our community the concept of a sustainable lifestyle. The classes now offered at the AGNR dept include numerous opportunities to increase our knowledge about our natural resources including native vegetation for your landscape, composting, organic methods of gardening, plant propagations, plant science and much, much more. Many of the classes are filling up fast and new classes are added.  Check with the AGNR dept on the lower campus for updates. Join us for an interesting presentation by Neville on the Miracle Molecule.

Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 7pm in the Sterling Inn off Ridgecrest Rd, will be Movie Night. Since this is the last meeting until September, we will do something a little different--a movie, popcorn and social time. We will complete our water series with a great movie on water along with refreshments and a little time to chat.

Our Mojave Group Outings leaders continue to plan some wonderful hikes in the desert and surrounding mountains. Look for those hikes in the Calendar section. If you are wishing to get in shape for that 6-9 mile hike, join us on the Wednesday evening walk (3 miles) or call Jenny or one of the leaders to find a buddy-hiker on that odd day you are available (or want to explore somewhere special). Jenny is coordinating the monitoring in the Juniper Flats Area (4x4 and  hiking -  JensOasis@aol.com or 760 220 0730) and Melody coordinates the Youth in the Desert Hikes (labelady@msn.com or 760 963 4430). Estelle continues to visit Wilderness Areas (estelledelgado@verizon.net  or 760 241-7327), Kim (kimffloyd@verizon.net or 760 680 9479) is the one to contact regarding conservation issues, and Carol Wiley is bringing us the programs (Earthlingwiley@aol.com or 245 8734). Bryan is working on our website.  For information on the Excom (business) meetings at the beginning of the month, contact Jenny or another Excom member.
